Purpose of role:

 

  • Contribute to the development and take ownership of the implementation of the Product Strategy as it relates to Refrigeration product lines in the UK
  • Develop, maintain and manage Personal Development Plan as well as providing guidance for the Personal Development Plans of direct reports
  • Set and communicate the business priorities of the Refrigeration product line, translating the vision and purpose of Company MDA into actionable product plans
  • Take accountability for the P&L of the Refrigeration category and ownership of the Refrigeration budget
  • Directly manage a Product Management Graduate, supporting their development as part of the Company graduate scheme and helping them to develop the core skills of a PM.

                                            

Key objectives

 

Product Strategy

  • Manage the Product Roadmap of the Refrigeration category  in collaboration with the Head of Product Management
  • Ensure that monthly margin targets are met to deliver both local profit and global profit
  • Analyse monthly sell-out figures to determine direction for the Refrigeration category
  • Provide scenario planning to the Head of Product Management that will guide decision making
  • Provide information that will guide channelisation, product lifecycle management and investment decisions in the Refrigeration category

 

Measured by:

  • Efficiency of the product line – Volume / Value per SKU
  • Meeting quarterly and yearly margin targets

 

Market Strategy

  • Work with the category management and brand teams to ensure that consumer targets and activity are aligned
  • Set the £RRP and invoice pricing of Refrigeration products to ensure the product range is competitive for the target market
  • Set the direction for segmentation of Refrigeration products in the UK
  • Ensure that monthly, quarterly and yearly targets for Volume, Revenue and Sell-out are met
  • Provide recommendations on a monthly promotional plan that will guide the commercial teams priorities in terms of sell-in
  • Review and react to competitor strategy, communicating insights and actions to both UK and Korean HQ

 

Measured by:

  • Meeting quarterly and yearly targets for Volume, Revenue and Sell-out
  • Implementation and profitability of the promotional plan
  • Market share of categories managed provided by GFK

 

Proposition

  • Work with the Supply Chain Management, Finance, Marketing and Commercial teams to develop an overall Refrigeration Value proposition

Forecasting

  • Contribute to the development of the quarterly and yearly Volume, Value and Margin plan
  • Work with the commercial sales team to ensure that any variation to plan is managed and communicated

 

Measured by:

  • Forecast accuracy by quarter and year

 

Launch

  • Contribute to the development of the launch plan for new product
  • Lead and manage the launch process for new products in Refrigeration

 

Measured by:

  • DAS – Dealer Attitude Survey results
  • Launch budget management
  • Launch volume, value and margin target achievement

 

Main responsibilities

Priority setting

Set the priorities for the Refrigeration category that complement the Vision and Purpose of the Head of Product Management ensuring that actions in market are aligned with the overall vision of Samsung DA

 

Personal Development

Align Personal and Direct Reports Development Plan with the overall vision of the DA category

Take ownership of Personal Development Plan

Meet objectives set for self as well as objectives set by Head of Product Management

Develop and deliver functional skills within the Product Management team

 

Measured by:

  • Implementation of Personal development plans that align with the long term business objectives of Home Appliances

 

Managing and Measuring Work

Dealing with conflicting viewpoints and ensuring that the business can move forward in a managed and clear fashion

Find new and innovative solutions to deal with long-term challenges and short-term problems

Work with and develop new systems of managing and measuring work, communicating clearly to Senior Management and HQ

 

P&L Accountability

Take full accountability for the Refrigeration P&L, providing scenarios and communicating to Head of Product Management

Management and ownership of budget and revenue targets for Refrigeration

Essential Hard Skills Required

  • Minimum of 5 years Product Management experience in related industries
  • Proposition development & execution experience
  • Product Lifecycle management experience with technical aptitude
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Good skills in Microsoft office packages
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong numeracy/commercial acumen
  • Experience in developing product strategies for multiple product categories
  • Experience managing P&L, delivering profitability with low margins
  • Experience managing large budgets
